If you’ve been searching for a way to correct your ‘man boobs’ you’re not alone. Men that have excess fat in the chest aka ‘man boobs’ are often very self-conscious about the problem and find it quite embarrassing. So it’s not unusual for them to ask their doctor- How can I treat my man boobs. Luckily, the condition can be easily treated with surgery.
What causes man boobs?
If a man has man boobs, it’s usually an indication that there is excess breast tissue present, as well as some fat. This condition is known as gynecomastia. It often develops during puberty when hormonal fluctuations cause the normal ratio between the testosterone and estrogen hormones, to get out of balance. When the estrogen gets high enough, the breast tissue becomes enlarged.
Gynecomastia goes away on its own in the vast majority of cases, but if it persists, surgery can be done to remove extra breast tissue.
How can you treat man boobs?
Breast reduction surgery is the most common option for the treatment of man boobs. It is an outpatient procedure that is normally done under general anesthesia. The incision for surgery is typically made around the areola, which is the dark area that surrounds the nipple, and the excess breast tissue is removed through this incision. Liposuction may be required for some men that also have too much fatty tissue behind the breast.
