Ladera CA Breast Augmentation Surgeon (Augmentation Mammaplasty)

Looking for a breast augmentation surgeon? Breast augmentation surgery is a procedure that is done to enlarge the breasts, and restore shape and volume post-pregnancy, or after weight loss. The procedure has traditionally been done with the use of saline or silicone-filled implants, but autologous fat transfer is increasingly being used in breast augmentation surgery.

Who is a good candidate?

Breast augmentation is recommended for women who would like to:

  • Increase the size of their breasts
  • Correct asymmetry
  • Reconstruct the breast after a mastectomy
  • Improve body contours

If you wish to undergo breast augmentation, please consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss the procedure, as well as possible risks and long term effects.

Breast augmentation Procedure

Breast augmentation is typically done under general anesthesia. The incisions for breast augmentation with implants, can be made using different incision techniques as outlined:

Inframammary: Made in the inframammary crease below the breast. This is the most common approach.

Periareolar: Incision is made within the pigmented areola, which is situated around the nipple.

Transaxillary: Incision is made under the armpit, and surgery is often done with an endoscope.

The breast implant is inserted via the incision into a specially designed pocket. The pocket may be located behind the pectoralis major muscle (submuscular), or beneath the breast tissue (subglandular).

The placement of the breast implant, as well as its size, shape, and texture, are all matters that should be discussed and agreed on with your plastic surgeon before surgery.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation with fat transfer involves liposuction of fat from a pre-agreed area of the body. The fat is processed, and then injected into the breasts to create volume.

Recovery

Recovery times vary based on the type of incision and implant placement. During recovery, you will experience some pain, swelling, and discomfort, but pain medication is prescribed. The swelling may last 3-4 weeks.

Results

Results of breast augmentation are visible immediately after surgery.
